Title 1 Reading Grades K - 5 & Math

Hello! Welcome to Title 1 Reading!

Our names are Mary Clare Faliero and Kelly Shivinsky, and we are so excited to service your children in Title 1 Reading.

Children who qualify for Title 1 Reading, through testing and teacher recommendations, are seen two times a week for approximately 35 minute class periods.  During these times, children will receive supplemental reading instruction. This is in addition to the reading instruction he/she receives in their regular classroom. The same skills being covered in his/her class will be reinforced in Title I.  We service students in Kindergarten through Grade 5.

The skills will involve phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, vocabulary, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. We use a variety of materials, games, and various activities to reinforce reading skills.

Parent Information Sessions will be offered during the course of the year providing you with ideas and resources so you can help your child with Reading at home.  More information on that to come!

Please feel free to reach out to us with any comments or questions.

Title I Math

My name is Janet Liebel and I am very excited to work with your children in Title 1 Math.

Children who qualify for Title 1 Math, through testing and teacher recommendations are seen
two times a week for 30 minute class periods. During these times, children will receive
supplemental math instruction. This is in addition to the math instruction he/she receives in their
regular classroom. The same skills being covered in his/her class will be reinforced in Title 1
Math.

The skills will include Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations,
Measurement and Data, and Geometry. I will use a variety of materials, games, and various
activities to reinforce math skills.

Suggestions for helping to improve your child’s math skills include: number fact drill - make flash
cards to help memorize basic facts, use math puzzle books, read and figure out graphs you see
in the newspaper(weather charts are good), make up money problems while you’re at the store
and let children measure ingredients while you cook.

Parent Nights will be offered during the course of the year providing you with ideas and
resources so you can help your child with Math at home. More information on that to come!

Please feel free to reach out with any comments or questions.
