Grade 7 Religion:
7th Grade Religion
After ending our Winter celebration of the true meaning of Christmas, we displayed our love and appreciation of Mary Mother of Christ, and his birth with our Catholic /Christian virtues and several projects. The student’s engagements created were beautiful and welcoming. We are so excited for our preparation of welcoming our holy season of Spring as we prepare for Lent and Easter!
In our 7th-grade religion class, students have been actively engaged in daily readings, lessons, discussion, participation, projects, and resources that strengthen us daily as we learn and work through the Fruits of the Spirit and Beatitudes. Our Bible reading continues to represent several examples.
The month of February “Black History” month presented an opportunity for expression as the 7th-grade students completed two projects. They did a wonderful job on their research on famous African Americans who changed the world and displayed acts of the Fruits of the Spirit/ Beatitudes. MLK's project readings of Moses represent those attributes of utilizing nonviolence to empower more effective advocacy and lessen judgments. 7th and 2nd-grade students also enjoyed coed Black History presentations with Miss Florence's class.
Marching into March we will concentrate on strengthening our Faith and deepening our studies of the Bible/Scripture Readings as we begin to prepare for Holy week. Students will be encouraged to continue their daily attributes of the Fruits of the Spirits/Beatitudes, which will provide strength in providing their contribution of Faith in Christ.
While we can’t be sure of what happened each day of Holy Week, we can learn through examples in the Bible of Jesus Christ's teachings throughout his ministry. Students will be provided opportunities to actively participate more as we take this time to reflect and grow in our relationship with Jesus. 7th grade’s spiritual preparation will include lessons, discussions, daily readings & reflection assignments, videos, notes, and hands-on experience. We will be covering the celebration of Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Lent, fasting, Stations of the Cross, Prayers of the Rosary, The Holiest days of the week, confession, forgiveness, and more. The students will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Jesus’s Passion and Resurrection. All this helps us to prepare for the celebration of Easter!.
