Hi! My name is Jennifer Smyczysnki and I teach Art and Early Childhood Spanish. As an educator, my goal is to model life-long learning through my teaching practice and by continuing to build my own skills and knowledge. As part of this goal, I aim to encourage excellence in my students, as well as myself. Part of my philosophy is also to build positive relationships with other faculty, students, and parents, in order to create a safe and happy environment for learning.
For me personally, art has always been extremely important in school and in life. I believe that the arts have the ability to allow for critical thinking, problem solving, and building 21st century skills in addition to the creative and artistic aspects that come intrinsically with art making.
I hope to instill an appreciation for art and what art can mean for students through encouraging all students to succeed no matter what they perceive their ability to be.
"The arts, it has been said, cannot change the world, but they may change human beings who might change the world." ~ Maxine Greene
