When Holy Cross School closed, I was instrumental in obtaining transportation so the children were able to attend Cathedral School. When Holy Angels and Immaculate Conception Schools closed, I coordinated transportation for those students so that they, too, may attend Cathedral School. I scheduled volunteer bus aides to ride those buses transporting the children to school.
I was named WOMAN OF THE YEAR of the Holy Cross Ladies’ Society in 1980 and received the ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER AWARD in 1985.
I have 7 beautiful grandchildren.
In 1987, the process was begun to regionalize the 3 remaining Catholic schools left on the West Side. I was a member of the commission and served as the recording secretary of that commission, and named Transportation Coordinator. In 1988, the regional school, Catholic Academy of West Buffalo, was created. Logistics in getting children to both campuses (Lafayette and Delaware) was accomplished with many meetings with NFTA officials. It worked!
In 1990, I was hired full time as secretary of the Catholic Academy, and eventually given extra duties as bookkeeper, etc.
